How to use the calculators
Each calculator asks for a few figures โ an amount, an interest rate and a time period โ and returns your result instantly. Here's how to get the most accurate answer.
Step by step
- Pick the calculator that matches your need โ loan, mortgage, savings, credit card or late payment.
- Enter the amount in pounds, using the annual interest rate (or AER for savings).
- Enter the term in years or the number of months, as prompted.
- Read your result โ the monthly payment, total interest, or final balance โ and use the example button to see a worked case.
- Download a repayment schedule as CSV, or share your calculation with a link.
Tips for accurate results
- Use the annual interest rate; the calculator converts it to a monthly rate for you.
- For a tracker mortgage, enter the Bank of England base rate plus your lender's margin.
- For late-payment interest, use the due date and the actual payment date so the day count is exact.
- Remember the results are indicative estimates โ check an official quotation for exact figures.
